Stayed at Alba Beach again, this time over Christmas. The public areas have been tastefully refurbished to a high standard. A disappointment was that the usual happy hour was cancelled after the first night. Also the standard of food in the restaurant has dropped for example cold porridge and soup and a excessive charge of 2e for filtered water.
As I have stayed in Alba Beach many times Christmas is special the food on on Cmas eve and especially Cmas night is superb with a great variety to suit all tastes.
Forever Hotel Balmoral for me, staff made me very welcome upon returning again. Feliz Navidad Maria hasta proxima
We have stayed regularly at Alba Beach over last number of years however this stay will probably the last as food standards have dropped alarmingly. No longer individual yogurt pots available for breakfast.Only yogurts available were from large containers and were of very poor quality. Choice of breads very limited and bland in taste.Difficult to toast also. Choice of teas very limited and queues to the tea and coffee making facility long and slow Hot food never actually hot but almost on every occasion has to be heated in the microwave before consuming. No longer bottles of water available to purchase in restaurant and replaced by jugs of water which are exorbitantly priced at €2.The source of this water is questionable as I got a severe stomach bug during the earlier part of our hotel stay which I could only put down to the water or possibly the green olives the quality of which was very poor and not related to the quality available on previous stays. Also disappointed that a balance I thought I had on my Amigo card had been wiped clear as a result of changes made by the hotel group to this promotion which I had not been made aware of.
We have been staying at this hotel for over 10 years twice a year , and we always enjoy the holiday, nice friendly staff, good food ,quiet and relaxing ????????????
